Sioux Nickname Approval!

A lot of Sioux fans, including myself, have been wondering about the fate of the Sioux logo...well, we're closer to retaining it. In this article, you can read about the support of the Spirit Lake tribe. Although we're not quite done yet, I think this is a good step to retaining the Sioux nickname and logo at the University of North Dakota.

Actually the vote means nothing if the Standing Rock Tribe doesn't vote. So there is a long ways to go.

such negativity. this is an important step. it at least shows that one of the two tribes in north dakota approves, which could go a long way toward influencing standing rock to hold a vote.

certainly things may not work out the way we all hope they do, but i think this first step is something worth celebrating, on a small scale of course. this doesn't satisfy the final goal, but it's better than the alternative which would have ended all hope.

what if bsu had this attitude? what if they simply said, "yeah, great, we won the cha, big deal, we'll get crushed by the big boys in the ncaa tournament, so what's the point in celebrating"? that would have been tragic. i'm sure the celebrated their cha tournament victory and then focused on the next step. as a result, they did very well.

baby steps, man, baby steps.

It's a good first step but means nothing if Ron His Horse Thunder does not let the Standing Rock Tribe vote. I also believe even if they had a vote and the Tribe voted to keep the name the NCAA and the anti-Fighting Sioux folks would still be unhappy with the Fighting Sioux logo and I can see the Goal post being moved.

Guarded would be the right word.

I'm guarded as well, but I can't give up hope

I think that this might fall under the category of "BFD." I'm in support of keeping the nickname, but I'm about excited right now as I would be if I got a letter from Ed McMahon saying that "I may have already one $10,000,000."
