CHL Brawl Could Lead to Criminal Charges

Everyone that reads this blog knows I'm no advocate of fighting in hockey and quite frankly, find most fights disgusting. To me, hockey is a game of skill and precision, and I don't feel fighting has a place in the game. Nevertheless, it does exist and that isn't changing anytime soon. However, there are certain instances that are just mind-boggling. Take, for instance, this fight that happened in Loveland, CO.

This video shows interviews with the Jackalopes players, one of whom had to have 18 screws put into his jaw. It also shows some glimpses of the fight. Take a look at the blood on the ice.

This isn't what I think of when I think of hockey. I know I'm not the majority either.

You and "Goon's World" are an interesting combination to read.

You're both Sioux fans, but you're anti-fighting and he's very much pro-fighting.

I myself am anti-fighting but do understand it's sadly part of the game.

Then you probably never played the game, right? Maybe you should follow Lacrosse instead.

Couldn't agree with you more on the fighting issue. I understand the occasional flare-up when emotions are running high, but the manner in which it is condoned and promoted at the pro level is just ridiculous. It's always amazed me that you can get thrown in jail for pushing someone on the streets, but can beat someone bloody on the ice and experience no consequences whatsoever. I'm a huge fan of a physical style of play within the rules established for checking, but very much against goonery.

USAFA - Goon is a fan of old-time hockey. While I love old-time hockey for the teams, players, and logos, I don't like the fighting it brought.

Anon - yeah, I played. Didn't need to fight; I was a goal scorer

Scion - to this day, I have yet to have someone explain to me a reason fighting is a part of the game. No one can do it, because it shouldn't be there.
